Gigabeat S30 Frozen
« on: May 16, 2008, 12:23:46 PM »
I was wondering if someone could help me with my S30. When I turn it on it just gets stuck on the gigabeat symbol. I've tried switching the battery off manually since it doesnt respond to pushing the buttons. Any help on this would be greatfully appreciated.
I have also tried reconnecting the hdd connection

If you don't mind us asking, were you trying to install Rockbox on it?

Yes........I installed Rockbox and then I did something evil......I used http://aibohack.com/giga repair utility with nk.bin file from rockbox in it (instead of the original nk.bin file from toshiba)
And it just froze  ;D
I even tried http://www.rockbox.org/twiki/bin/view/Main/GigabeatFXPort#Gigabeat_Recovery_Procedures
to recover.........doing so shows gigabeat as 1GB and does not allow me to copy anything

I know i did a grave mistake....but it just happened

Fixed the problem
Did a HARD reset to the player (turned off the battery switch and turned it back on), and holding left (on the cross) and the windows button while booting to enter recovery mode.

and followed the steps to re install the firmware http://aibohack.com/giga

And next time, don't follow instructions for an entirely different model of Gigabeat.
