Rockbox Development > New Ports

Any interest in porting ROCKbox to a Reddmango Angora VX435?

I have recently bought this Portable Media Player, and the firmware leaves something to be desired, there's no updates on it's website and I think the hardware would be better with decent firmware. So I feel that RockBox is the way to go.

I have knowledge in c and assembler, it would just be nice to have some help. So if anybody else has this pmp and wouldn't mind lending a hand that would be nice, if not, I could just hope for a decent firmware update to be released by reddmango themselves.

Either way :)

Come on, kids, you all know the lyrics to this song:

I did read them. I wouldn't expect anything of any of the developers. I was just getting an idea of who had this device, and what skills they had, that was all :). If this thread is in the wrong place, can I or a mod please delete? Thanks

GaryOaks:
Right, after some extensive research and taking this sucker apart I have found the following hardware inside:

Media Processing Unit: Sigma Designs RealMAGIC 8M8511S
Memory: 2x Winbond W9812G2GH-6 SDRAM chips
USB Controller: ALI M5637
LCD Controller Chip: SST 39VF010-70-4C-B3K *I think*
EEPROM: Winbond w19b320 *I think*
Storage: Hitatchi 120Gb laptop sized HDD
Audio Codec?: Wolfson WM8750S

That was a tough job, but I guess it's a huge step towards getting a decent firmware on this baby.

There were smaller chips on the mainboard too, but I didn't think they were that important as yet.
