Crash during USB connection, reboot how?

(1/3) > >>

Fewlio:
I just installed rockbox on my sansa e260 I purchased off woot without any problems, initially. I go to plug the USB back into the sansa and it crashed, the screen is all crazy. It doesn't respond to anything I push, can't find any actual reset button either. Windows is able to recognize that a device is plugged in, but not what it is.

*edit* Well the battery dying turned it off for me, plugged it back in and it seems to be working fine now. May as well find out if it repeats itself right now.

Llorean:
Two things:

First, holding the power button for fifteen seconds (sometimes a bit longer, best to give it 20-25) should always turn it off, no matter how bad it gets.

Second, this is the installation section of the forum. The sticky post mentions that once you've managed to boot Rockbox, all future posts should go in other sections. Please, read the forum guidelines and pay attention to the stickies, as this is a heavily moderated forum.

Fewlio:
1. I held the power button for a minute, nothing happened.
2. This is a fresh install, it booted, then it failed - I couldn't find any "Failed installation" forums so I figured I'd post here. Where should this have gone? I really see this as falling under "Specifically this means questions about the installation process and/or problems you're having with it." Either way it seems like this is a bug related to http://www.rockbox.org/tracker/task/8272 which doesn't seem to be resolved yet? Just wanted to give this as a gift to someone who doesn't know how to change their home page in firefox/ie, suppose I'll just restore it so they don't have to deal with any bugs.

Llorean:
1) Considering that screen is the Rhapsody logo, the failure probably happened in Sandisk's code, possibly a hardware failure.  If it is definitely bad hardware, the power button may not work.

2) Did you successfully boot Rockbox? This is for questions about HOW to install. Did you read the post I referenced you to, or just try to imagine a technicality you thought would justify it? I'll quote you the relevant part: "Once you have booted Rockbox successfully even once, you should voice your concerns in other forums." Since you said you installed it fine initially, and it wasn't until you tried to plug USB in, it sounds like the booting completed from your post's content. The whole "everything went fine initially" bit. What part of the installation process, exactly, is "accessing USB mode"? I don't see it anywhere in the install instructions, do you?

Fewlio:
1. It's not a Rhapsody player.
2. I don't really see any real "support" forums other than the bugtracker which already has a similar issue I've ran into, which seems to have a fix, a fix I don't really know how to install.
