iAudio X5 backlight

When backlight turns off the screen just becomes light grey (at first it seems as if the screen is turned off completely but in darker places it's obvious that it's not) (it doesn't matter if "Sleep (after Backlight Off)" is set to Always or Never). Are you aware of this bug? If so, why isn't it fixed for several  years already?
Also is there any way to make that the screen would not be "turned off" when backlight turns off?
