a quick remove of rockbox
« on: May 09, 2008, 01:14:07 PM »
How would i go about doing a quick removal from my iriver h120? I just deleted the files and when i start it up now it says:

"Rockbox boot loader
version 6
Batt: 4.16"

and then goes to the iriver firware.

Its not that big a deal but how would i go about getting rid of that bit?

cheers,
matt

Reinstall an unpatched version of the original iriver firmware by using the "update firmware" routine in the original firmware.

While the manual covers uninstalling the bootloader it usually is recommended to leave it in place because of bootloader USB mode -- which means you can access the player as usb drive even without the iriver firmware working. This could for example happen if your hard drive has errors.

Of course it's up to you to decide if you want to keep the bootloader or now. Still, this is covered in the manual
