can i use an mac with my iriver rock box os???

perhaps this is  a dumb question...i just got my iriver and i didnt realize the os sucked so bad...now i want to upgrade to rock box....i have a g4 mac...dose rock box work with macs....how do i get the firmware on the iriver with a mac?

 i would use a friends pc...if i was sure the new iriver os will work with my mac...

help help!!!

You don't say which iriver you own, but all irivers that Rockbox works on act as "USB mass-storage" devices, which means they appear as a normal external hard drive when attached to a computer, and you just drag and drop music files to it.

For installation, you can use the Rockbox Utility (see the installation chapter in the Rockbox manual for your device) - a Mac OS X version is available.

the osx rockbox utility didn't work for me, it kept crashing (it may have been fixed since)

you can do it manually by using an emulator however, follow these steps here:

Some information about the crash would be interesting ... did it occur on the latest released binary? Unfortunately we have no dev working on Rockbox Utility running a mac, so it's rarely tested. Which means we need your input to fix issues ...
