Rockbox loads, but does not respond. - ipod video 30gb
« on: May 08, 2008, 05:30:24 PM »
I loaded rockbox, it installed fine. used ti a few times, it played songs fine.

every other time i restarted it, though, it ignored all my button presses and had to be hard reset.

then i initialized pictureflow, it went through its long load process.

then i shut it down, transferred some gameboy roms to it, and reset.

now every time i reset it, it either freezes at the RockBox screen, or freezes at the menu. it ignores all button presses except for the hard reset.

any ideas? should i reinstall rockbox or something?

I'm having exactly the same problem with the same model. Any help would be appreciated. Also, I don't know if this is useful information, but I downloaded and installed rockbox today.

Both of you should tell us what revision you're using.  It would be useful to know if older builds work on your respective machines.

aekre, did Rockbox work properly for a while and then stop working like on dasmico's iPod?

Revision? Sorry, I don't know what that means.

It has only worked properly for me once, and that was just by chance I think. Ever since installation it's been freezing, bar that one time.

That one time it worked, I fell in love with it, so I really hope I can get it working properly!

Edit: Ok, I see now! I had r17428. I just installed r17407 and it works perfectly.

It's a bit strange to me that more people aren't seeing this problem.  Can you check that this happens with the most recent revision also?

I have been seeing this too and have just updated to the latest version, this being r17492-080513.

This only happens when I do the following:

I shut down rockbox, either by timer or manually.
I plug my iPod into my computer and let it boot.
I get the rockbox menu but it's complete locked, I can't even access my iPod from my computer

If I see that rockbox has locked and I hardreset while still being connected to my computer my iPod loads the basic firmware and I am able to access it from my computer.

If I'm running rockbox and then connect to my pc all is fine.

The computer currently I'm doing this from is a laptop running Fedora 9.

See the attachments for logs with more info.

Thanks for the input, Maldune.  However, I think the other people in this thread are seeing lockups independent of any USB connection.

It sounds like Rockbox runs okay if you do not follow the recipe that you posted.  Nevertheless, it seems like undesirable behavior.  You can file a bug report for that if you like.

My 5.5G 30GB is freezing on the main Rockbox menu each and every time I boot it.

Using r17488. I just noticed there is a new revision as of today, which I will try ASAP.

EDIT: Appears to work fine with r17497! Cheers.
