Sansa e250R: Broken LCD and possibly broken headphone port

I pulled my player out from my bookbag after school yesterday and when I turned it on, the LCD screen was utterly shattered (don't ask how, I have no clue.) Also, when I plug my head phones in, I get no sound. I installed the voice program and I can't hear the voice at all. Would I be able to send it in and get it fixed, can I fix it myself, or is trying to fix it a lost cause?

Not sure what you mean by voice program; you should only need to unzip the voice file found at http://www.rockbox.org/daily.shtml to the root of your player (then check you have /.rockbox/langs/english.voice) and make sure your /.rockbox/config.cfg file contains the following line:

talk menu: on

Then you should be good to go...

and make sure your /.rockbox/config.cfg file contains the following line:

talk menu: on

Except that you don't need that line in your config.cfg, I believe it doesn't hurt but it's not necessary.
This is the file Rockbox saves the current settings automatically to. To keep the file and especially the saving process as short as possible only differences to the default settings are stored there - and "talk menu" is on by default...

I never said I had a problem installing the voice file. Personally, I'd rather replace the screen than have to navigate via audio alone.

If, as you say, the problem is no display AND no audio, it sounds like your Sansa took quite a beating.

I have no idea how much people would charge to diagnose and fix a problem like that, and to be honest it sounds more bad than good, but maybe you could:
a) see if you can get your music off the player when hooked to your PC

b) assuming 'a)' is successful, look online or locally for someone who will attempt to diagnose/fix the problem. Ideally you want a 'fix it or no charge' deal. I wouldn't recommend just buying a new screen, as it seems your problem is more severe than simply that. The lack of audio might be a simple problem, but the way you describe the screen as utterly shattered makes me think that you may have to say goodbye to your Sansa.
