RockBoy slowness!
« on: May 07, 2008, 03:37:08 PM »
So I have a Sansa e250 running RockBox just fine. when I play Game Boy or Game Boy color games though it slows down like crazy!! I found that even the music has this odd ticking fizzy noise, and even if i set the frameskip to 6 its still slow. So is it just me, or is everybody having this problem?  ???

Are you talking about game soundtrack or music?

There's quite a lot of info on Rockboy and why it appears slow on the PortalPlayer based players.

Here's the search I just did :

i have the same problem on my 5th Generation iPod Video. I just tolerate it the best i can. Sonic 7 is probably the worst, but o well. Some games run very well. It really depends on the game itself, trust me i have like 20.

Yeah. Hopefully they will fix it in a later build.

It'll be fixed when someone wants to fix it. Right now, most people are focused on making sure Rockbox plays music correctly.

Tell that to the people who experience periodic crashes while playing their music.

Just don't listen to the sound, also download Visual Boy Advance and import the .sav file as a "battery file". Then find a gameshark code that makes you character run really fast and export the battery file. Replace this with you previous save and you should be a little better off.
