e260 quick question
« on: May 07, 2008, 02:04:13 AM »
I had the rockbox going fine on an e250 but it died so I upgraded to the 260. I opened it up and  turned it on but the factory firmware on the 260 has no option for settings ----> usb  ?
I must be missing something very obvious here :/

What is the firmware version of your e260?  It should be visible somewhere in the factory firmware's menus.

factory firmware is:
V03.01.11A

settings --options I get:
music options, radio , slideshow, backlight, language, date and time, brightness, volume, reset all, info, auto shut-off, format, record button, press and hold, demo mode.

I'm not seeing USB under any subfolder in these, I've had a long day but this is strange.
__________
Edit I found this elsewhere:
To get MSC mode with out-of-the-box v2 firmware:

slide the hold switch to the locked position and holding down the rewind button << then connect it to the computer.

nice trick, it worked. Too bad now I've realized I have the V2 260  and it isn't compatible  ::)  :-\ !!!

i noticed people working on it, but I'm guessing this isn't happening soon??

No one can really say, it may be never, or it may be quick.  Personally I would imagine it will happen eventually, but not tomorrow!

Your best bet at this point is probably ebay (asking the seller for the OF version first).  There may be a few refurbs around in shops, but it is very difficult to tell the version without seeing the OF version.

I bought I refurbished E250v1 off Amazon little over a fortnight ago for £34.99 (Around $70)

Its as if its brand new, i'd recommend Amazon or Ebay as BigBambi said  ;)
