Sansa C250 problems
« on: May 04, 2008, 01:47:40 PM »

I just got a Sansa C250.  After getting Rockbox to work on it successfully for 2 days, I'm now having big problems.  The two main problems are this:

1.  The player isn't recognized by my PC at all (windows xp OS).  I can't transfer files as a result, but I can recharge.

2.  In Rockbox mode, the player seems to work fine at first... menus all work fine, etc.  However, while all of the folders for the music show up on screen, when I try to open a folder, no songs are shown.  All of the folders are empty!  When I try to call up a song with a previously stored bookmark, that doesn't work either.  No songs can be accessed nor played.

However, in the Sansa's traditional OS, all of the songs can be accessed and played.  No issues in that native OS, other than #1 above, where I can't get the PC to recognize the player and transfer files.

Any step by step instructions or advice will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Matt

Rockbox doesn't have its own usb mode right now. You need to reboot into the original firmware to use usb. Please do check  the SansaFAQ, this question is already answered there.

Check the "Show Files" setting. My guess is that it's set to "Playlists", and then it will only show playlists. Another possibility is that the OF has hidden the files -- in that case you need to set the mentioned setting to "All" -- all other values will hide hidden files.

I think you have proberly got the player in mtp mode and not msc as required by rockbox.
What firmware version are you running? As this effects how you get it in msc mode.
