Llorean:
And a third thing: Don't post the same question in multiple sections of the forum.

BishiSwordsMan:
You don't want to help me out, ok fine then. You understood exactly what I asked for and won't help me just because the guidelines. And what am I suppose to say 'Help me please' in a professional way? No one will kill you for giving me a little hint on my problem but nevermind, i'll figure it out myself if I can't even get help from professionals.

You people are unbelievable! Learn to speak nicely to newbies FYI.

saratoga:
I didn't help you because I don't know what how to fix your problem.

XavierGr:
In the .rockbox folder (in the root of your player) you will find a file named "default.cfg".
Delete that file, then input your settings and save them. Hopefully your setting now will be remembered.

Others have reported that problem, I am not sure what sort of bug is underlying. It is difficult to reproduce it.

BishiSwordsMan, don't take responses offensively. This forum has strict rules for a good reason. We have a great amount of users asking questions, so the best way to answer and help them is to at least point them to the manual and forum guidelines. That way other users will understand your problem and people will be able to help you.

It might be a little annoying for one or two punctuation marks, or less appropriate syntax, but it's been a successful recipe for this board. So please bare with it and try to conform with the rules.

Also don't forget that you started to be offensive first, so others will treat you the same way.

Ok, as you don't seem to be able figuring such a thing out yourself (or not willing to think about how this should work), I'll reprase your initial post for you.

First, use a descriptive topic. I already said that, and something suitable would have been
Sansa e200: Settings not remembered?

For the post itself, how about something like
I updated the build on my e200. Now the settings aren't remembered anymore. This means that I need to redo my settings every time I restart, especially the sound settings (EQ, Bass, Treble, etc.). I also saved a sound cfg file but it won't load upon startup and I need to load it manually. How can I fix this?
You could even reprase the last sentence to Please help me to fix this. That's a professional way of saying "Please help me".

If you want professional help you need to ask professional. You didn't do that at all. If you want to get answers here you should really read this article on how to ask questions and follow it.

Learn to behave. You started being impolite and insulting because saratoga asked you politely ("Please" -- what's impolite about that?) to write proper english, as the rules here require you to do. If you can't manage handling such a request and are unable to follow our rules just leave. We don't need you and won't care.

Oh, and about your initial question: you're talking about sound settings and settings. What exactly are you referring to? All settings get saved in a configuration file. That is, if you save the sound settings (which is a subset of the settings, obviously) to a file you just save parts of the settings -- and that file won't get loaded upon startup at all. On startup the global settings file will get loaded, and if you changed values between saving sound settings to a file and shutting down the changed values will get loaded.

Also, Rockbox has an option to reset all settings upon boot (it will show a splash "settings reset" or something similar). This is a safety function. The manual explains how to trigger it, and I'm rather sure that you simply hit this functionality.
