New Theme for 220x176x16: Winterdark

This is my first from-scratch WPS. I was previously using a modified jClix (and it probably shows), but I figured I could probably do better.


The status bar shows time and date or battery details, depending on the position of the hold switch. The general idea is to show as much information as might possibly be useful, and still have it re usable.

So, what do you think? Any changes that you'd recommend? Anyone here think they might use it?

It has more information on display than I find I want (I don't care about bitrate, codec, etc.) but it looks fine and all I beg of you is to release it under a free and open license.

One good thing about having too much information is that others who use the theme can easily remove the information they don't want, and replace it with what they find important.

Personally, I would remove the 'percentage played' from the progress bar, and replace it with the playlist position, but WPS do tend to be based on personal preference ...

Yapper: Playlist position is in the bottom right corner. Personally, I like having plenty of room for the track times, because I listen to a lot of hour plus podcasts, which can overflow the tiny windows they're often given.

Terrence: Yes, proper repeat and shuffle icons are needed. In fact, all the icons could do with a once-over. I'm no graphic artist, and these were about the best I could do. Maybe once it's released, someone will improve it for me

I was kind of assuming that by releasing it, and not mentioning a specific license, then it would default to PD, but I suppose that's a bad assumption.

Great! but you have to be more specific than that, you should specify a license type (for example from http://creativecommons.org/about/license/) where the theme is posted (the wiki. see the theme just before yours) and in the .wps and .cfg files to leave out any possible doubts.

Um, no.

CC licenses are not public domain, but rather a flavour of copyright. As I have released it into the public domain, no CC license is compatible. The fact that it is PD is specified in the wiki.

Soap did put better what I meant (specially about being specific)

Ok, I've added a not to the .cfg and .wps fils saying that they're PD. Adding a license.txt file to say that there is no license seemed counterintuitive, though.

Ahh - but see that's the issue.
No license = you maintain full rights.  Without your express statement of "public domain" the lack of license means you retain full rights and nobody can modify it.

I hope everyone is happy now.

Regardless of your license choice an explicit mention of it makes me very warm inside.

The c200s could really use a theme like this (information switches based on Hold switch); the small screen makes it difficult to fit more than just a little info on the screen at once.
