HELP ME?!

i have an ipod nano 1st gen 4gig and my pc reconizes it...but rockbox doesnt...what do i do? please help???

Do you mean that Rockbox Utility doesn't recognize it?  Describe what's happening slowly and exactly.

i think i might have a 2nd gen but it should still work...im not sure what i have...anyway i open up the rockbox utility and when i go to complete installation a new box opens which says " Starting bootloader installation" then "Searching for ipods" then says "no ipods found" but in "my computer" my ipod is right there

Rockbox is an open source firmware for mp3 players, written from scratch. It runs on a wide range of players:

Apple: 1st through 5.5th generation iPod, iPod Mini and 1st generation iPod Nano
(not the Shuffle, 2nd/3rd gen Nano, Classic or Touch)

ok first of all you know as well as i do that noone ever reads those things they just click agree and be done with it...second of all why dont they have a version of rockbox for 2g? and when will they? i know more people with 2g then with 1g! and the last point i want to make is. how do i change the topic title? lol

rockbox ports are not done by magical "they", they are done by actual people who own the hardware. So the question is, if you know so many 2g owners, why haven't they done the rockbox port yet ?

Well, given that the fact that "we" in terms of quite some people answering your questions here are working on Rockbox, I don't see who "they" should be. Second, Rockbox runs on the Ipod 1G and 2G. It doesn't run on the Nano 2G which is a completely different thing. You need to be exact here as this makes a major difference.

And as BigBambi said, the rules are enforced here. Follow them or leave.
