Codec Failure H140, Problems :(

(1/1)

ENWOD:
Recently i began getting a codec error and none of my files would play. However if i pasted a new daily build over it it worked but as soon as i'd turned my player off and started it up again i kept getting the same Codec error problem (in addition to this the now playing screen was distorted with many of the same images etc pasted all over it)

Now however (after trying to reinstall Rockbox I can't get any files to play without a codec error)

In addition to this I have a file in my .rockbox directory called "Ç" which is supposedly 102kb but displays as 0kb... I cannot delete as it says it "cannot read from the source file or disk"

I'll be truely grateful for any help :)

check if you have an old rockbox.iriver file in the root of your player -- that file moved into the .rockbox folder a while ago, and this file and the codecs in the folder need to match.

Sounds like filesystem issues. Run "chkdsk /f" on that drive from the windows command prompt.

ENWOD:
Thanks; seems to have sorted the problem. Much appreciated! :D

Pedro:
I just updated my Rockbox for the first time in a very long time and got the failure.  I deleted the rockbox.iriver file in the root directory (it was indeed very old).  However, my H120 would then only boot the ireiver software.  I then tried moving the rockbox.iriver in .rockbox into the root directory and that has now worked.  Is this what you I should have done?!

Llorean:
It sounds like your bootloader is out of date. If you check the Rockbox manual, you'll find instructions for installing the bootloader. To update, you just install again, using the newest one.
