How to begin to write an application for rockbox

Hello everyone! I'm a little bit interested into this alternative for iPod and i would like to make an application for rockbox something like translator. Can someone help me how to start, what i need(files, compiler, which simulator etc.) and what i need to read ??? ? I'm skilled in C and a little bit C++. excuse my English... for request thank
