problems with ipod video 80 and battery mode

Hello
I have a ipod video with 80 gb harddisk.
I have a problem, i can use it with my power adapter plugged in to my ipod, but then i try to use it without my power plugged into my ipod.
I can use it in 1 minute.
I have tryed to set my time and date, but wenn i use my ipod on the battery it shut down and the time and date goes back to the 1th of jannury 2000.

I hope you can help me.
