Monochrome viewports on colour screens

<< < (2/2)

Llorean:
What did it remove? The fullscreen viewport can still inherit colours, and you couldn't do partial-screen viewports, so they certainly couldn't inherit colours...

I'm not saying it shouldn't be a feature request, but be careful when you say a feature was removed.

ell1ps1s:
That's a reasonable distinction, and 'removed' is probably not the right choice of word. Would you agree, however, that the behaviour is inconsistent between full- and partial-screen viewports?
And is the resolution of that inconsistency desirable?
(At least as an option--declaring colours for viewports is useful behaviour when that's what you want.)

The default full-screen viewport is automatically declared in order to preserve compatibility to older WPS themes.  I don't see how you can consider the behavior of the custom viewports you declare to be inconsistent to an automatically declared viewport, given that there's a specific format outlined in the manual for declaring viewports for colour targets, which no doubt the default viewport follows in the code, using the foreground and background colours defined in the display settings.  However, it would be a nice idea to have colour declaration optional for colour targets, and have the viewports use the colours defined in the display settings unless other colours are declared.
