Adding songs to the Sansa e280
qib:
Hi,
first of all i want to say that i appreciate what rockbox has done to the volume that can be played on the sansa. My problem now, is that i find the process of adding songs inconsistent. First, the music folder always has to be unhide (unhid?) after adding songs. Why does it constantly stay hidden?
Secondly, and most important, i cant seem to be able to add songs to the sansa? Sometimes its simple, 1)rip a cd 2) id3 tag it 3) Place songs into the music folder on the sansa interface. Now what happens is that even though i add songs i cant see them in the player. Looking through the database and files section of the player. Am i doing something wrong?
Thanks in advance for your help.
Best regards,
Qib

The first is easier to answer. The Sansa OF hides the music folder by default. The only way to stop it is to stop using the OF, which won't be fully possible until the USB stack is working on the PortalPlayer targets.
The second... Did you initialize and update the Rockbox database to make sure the files are scanned and entered into it, and is your file view set to view "All" so you can see the hidden "Music" folder while in that view?

Thanks for your reply. I selected update now from the database general settings. I've have also selected auto update so it does it all the time. I'll get back to you when it has finished updating. Thanks.

Its finally working, but i think the problem with the songs was the size of files. I recently started using only 320kbps songs. On one album, the files constantly skipped and would not stop. Is this a problem with rockbox? Or is it the Sansa? Songs on the album would not stop skipping to other songs. Any suggestions? Thanks.
