Ipod will not go into disc mode while in Rockbox
magnumforce2006:
Recently updated to the 4/21 current build of Rockbox and whenever I connect my ipod to USB while in Rockbox it simply charges, but will not enter USB mode. If I press the menu button down while doing so, it still just charges.
The only way I can actually enter usb mode now is by plugging in the ipod and going into the original firmware.
What's going on?
zajacattack:
Rockbox doesn't have USB support for PortalPlayer devices (yet!).
You have to keep using the OF for now.
magnumforce2006:
What? I'm not referring to anything special here... I simply mean my player won't connect to the PC when I plug it in to USB... it simply charges while still in Rockbox mode
It has never shown this behavior before on any version of rockbox.
Llorean:
Just reboot it by hand. The automatic-reboot feature has become less reliable lately.

Just to clarify, Rockbox on the later iPods (including yours) has never had a USB mode. When you plugged it into USB, it automatically rebooted to Apple's emergency disk mode. This automatic rebooting has become more unreliable lately as Llorean said, so you may have to reboot it to disk mode (or the OF) manually.
