Unknown device

Hi everyone @ rockbox!
I’m new here and I have a question:
At eBay I have bought a device from China, looking like an ipod nano 3. generation (including connection cable) and having 8 GB. First it works fine with Windows and mp3 but than, when I coppied more files and directories it hangs up. Now it works again, but not very well. I have tried if I can update it with iTunes, but iTunes didn’t find the device, so it's no iPod.
Can anyone tell me if there is any rockbox build that I can try to use (Archos, iAudio, Toshiba, SanDisk)? Or how can I find out if anything works? What else can I do?
