Windows says "insert removable disc"/Can't connect iPod (was: Help)
(1/1)
aprzybylo:
I installed Rock box on my i-pod nano yesterday. It's running but if I connect it to my pc nothing happens. Windows detects it as removable disc but I can't access it (in explorer it says insert removable disc). I cannot update my ipod anymore as it doesn't detect it properly anymore. I tried to unistall Rockbox but it sais that configuration is invalid even if I set it properly . Basicly my ipod wont go in the update mode whgen it's connected to pc but stays on. I cannot reistall using original apple sofware either.
LambdaCalculus:
Rockbox doesn't have a working USB mode yet. Shut down and reboot, clicking the hold switch on as you do. The Apple firmware should load.
This is covered in the manual.
Also, please rename this thread to something more descriptive, as our forum guidelines state.

I've renamed the thread and moved it to an appropriate forum.

I myself have noticed Vista (for me anyway) doesn't seem to notice a rockboxed ipod unless you're in disk mode or using the original firmware. Linux and XP see it with no problem when I plug it in.

They might notice something is there, but it shouldn't do anything, as has been said the later iPods do not yet have a usb mode in Rockbox.
