iPod upgrade

<< < (4/4)

Spanky:
I can and will accomplish this. I have some experience wiring fans up in my computer to the fan controller, I am just making sure that I do this right, because I don't want a bricked iPod. I will test the voltage coming out with my multimeter and as long as it's close to 3.7 volts I can safely say that I did it right. All I'm trying to accomplish is a longer running time and with batteries like $8 on ebay, I can't go wrong. I don't want one of those things where you have an altoids container dangling from the iPod.

Out of respect for Llorean, I will not respond to this thread once my last question has been answered.

Will wrapping the external batteries (the ones without the temp wire hooked up) in alumnium foil, covered in plastic be sufficient enough protection? I believe if something goes wrong and one starts leaking that it should get hot and I should see it in time to cut the batteries away and properly dispose of them before they cause harm.

zajacattack:
IF you get your batteries off eBay, be EXTREMELY careful. Many used batteries have been shown to lack a chip preventing overcharging and can explode. (I believe I saw a Dateline special on that...)

Llorean:
Out of respect for me, you asked one more off-topic question?

Spanky:
I have boughten the batteries before.

Llorean, you can look at it that way if you want.

I'm done here, delete or lock the thread, I don't care.

*EDIT*
Thanks to those of you that contributed to this topic with legitimate answers.
