Tagging WAV Files

UMT:
New user, love my Rockbox.

Am using digitally recorded WAV files as backing tracks for my band.   Why WAV?  Yes, they are larger but for what I'm doing, a difference in audio quality between MP3 and WAV.  (I know there is some disagreement about this subject, but that is not why I'm posting)

I can load the songs up just fine and play them just fine but Rockbox shows all information as 'UNTAGGED'   I put them thru a tag editor and titled them, etc.  but Rockbox still shows UNTAGGED.

I am a newbie and not a programming expert.   Can someone help me with this tagging issue?   Recommend a tag editor?  Any hints/help  would be greatly appreciated.   Even if I could just get the title.   I really don't need the 'genre, album, artist, etc....

Thanks,
UMT

I don't know much about wav files tagging (it might be possible), but you could use your file names (and directory structure if you have your music organized like that) for showing the song names and album/artist/year/etc, using the WPS tags like %fn, %fp, %d1, etc. in the theme you use (instead of %it, %id, etc). For customizing a theme, see http://www.rockbox.org/twiki/bin/view/Main/CustomWPS#File_Info

UMT:
Thanks for the reply, but so far this (changing themes?) is way above my head.

Well, what I suggest you to do is really not difficult, it sounds more complicated than what it really is  :)

If you tell me which theme you're using, I can do it for you, it will only take a couple minutes (of course, your file names have to be what you want to display)

If you want lossless audio, why not pick one of the lossless audio formats Rockbox supports? As they are lossless there is no degrade in audio quality, and you can simply use the tags of the format (for example, vorbis comments to flac). And they have the additional benefit that files are a bit smaller than raw wav :) wav is only one lossless audio format
