Root folder problems
Teh nooblet:
so i installed rockbox on my 5.5 gen ipod video and at first it wouldnt find any files in database so i had to listen from root and then i found the update database button and the songs work on database now. I was just wondering why they now work on database but not on Root! ??? ??? :-\ :'(
nls:
I'm not quite sure i understand your question but check your "Show Files" setting, it should be set to "All", "Supported" or "Music" for the file browser to show your files.
bluebrother:
I don't understand what you mean by "listen from root". A hard drive has a so-called "root folder", also abbreviated as "root" sometimes. The root folder is simply the topmost folder of the drive -- for example, windows assigns each drive a drive letter. The root folder of drive d: is therefore simply d:\
With Rockbox you can play files by browsing the database or the file system. It doesn't make any difference where you put your songs in the filesystem (the database will crawl the complete filesystem of the player).
Teh nooblet:
I used to have to listen to files by going to files then root because the database would not update but i later managed to update it. Now it works when i got to database, but when i go the root folder and try to play songs it says: No file!, i was wondering why that happened
-srry 4 unclear post
Chronon:
Are you saying that now the database works, but the file browser doesn't? I'm confused. I have to assume that you are not talking about songs that you transferred via iTunes since you say that they are located in the root directory.
