Toshiba f 40 Battery Question
(1/1)
coacharnold:
Ok .... there was a recent post about Lithium Ions and 'de-charging" them all the way before recharging. I have to be honest .... I thought it was better to recharge only after the battery had been worn all the way down. ... Okay I stand corrected .... but here's some new questions
1 - Does the charge circuit in the toshiba shut off entirely when it's done charging? I.E. if I plug it in when i go to bed is it safe to have it plugged in till i wake?
2 - Is USB charging OK .... the player seems to get warm when the USB charging is activated.... then this goes back to my original question --- does the recharge circuit shut down when the battery is full.....
3 - I recently updated to the newest Toshiba rockbox ---- it had been almost a year since i did an update ..... does anyone else notice a decrease in battery time?
hope all is well with everyone in Rockbox land ....
Tim
zajacattack:
1 - To my knowledge, as long as the battery wasn't bought used, yes, it should have a chip that does this.
2 - USB charging should be perfectly safe.
Llorean:
1) Yes.
2) USB charging is slower, this may be why it seems to get warmer, batteries warm up while charging.
3) Do a runtime test against the original firmware, batteries do age with time.
soap:
Listen very carefully to your player before and after initiating a USB charge.
Is the hard drive running the entire charge cycle?
