Rockbox issue with upgraded HDD in iriver H120
nlak:
I just performed an upgrade of the HD in my iriver H120, following
Linus' instructions (http://www.rockbox.org/twiki/bin/view/Main/ZIFToATAAdapter) and using the corresponding adapter (ADA-HDD-1.8-ZIF-CF from ESS Kabel).
The new HD I put into the H120 is the Samsung HS082HB (80 GB). I formatted the HD with a FAT32 filesystem. The H120 works fine with the iriver firmware (1.66U), and the HD size is reported correctly. But whenever I try to boot Rockbox I get the same error message: "ATA error: -32 Insert USB cable and press a button", and then the player freezes.
When I did the HD upgrade, I also changed the battery (I don't know if this plays a role for Rockbox?)
Any help to overcome this problem would be greatly appreciated. Many
thanks in advance.
LinusN:
Try removing the call to check_registers() in ata.c, then recompile and reinstall the bootloader.

Hi Linus, thanks for the fast response. It seems that I would need some help with the recompiling, since I am not familiar with this. (I only have very general knowledge about how this works)
Could you please indicate where I can find concrete instructions (and tools) for recompiling the bootloader? Is the source code of the bootloader included in the big rockbox source code file (http://build.rockbox.org/dist/build-source/rockbox.7z)?
LinusN:
I PM:ed you a link to a modified bootloader. Please let me know if it works.

I just booted Rockbox! Many thanks for your invaluable assistance.
