checking bad h320 HD by putting good one in,will it ruin good one?

(1/1)

ctfshjohn:
I have 2 h320's. one good, one bad ,both running iriver 1.28J.
bad one says check hdd connection on iriver startup.
i want to put my good HD in from my new h320 just to see if it will run properly before i buy a new HD to fix it with.
will it  recognize the RB OS,japan hex 1.28 j ,and all that is installed on the good drive when i hook it up and operate just like the good unit was .
i do not want to corrupt the good drive i just want to see if the bad 320 will run properly and then put the good HD back in the working unit.
hopefully ive explained this problem properly.
thanks for any and all input in advance.
peace
EDIT: when i turn the bad one one in RB i get this::
bootoader version 5 (hard drive clicks and clicks)
and then i get" ATA error -11  insert usb cable and press a button "
and no matter what i do it hangs on this screen wont boot rockbox

and on upon starting it up with iriver firmware i get this
"check HDD connection "and it also clicks and clicks and then it says
"check hdd" and boots up to the iriver os but cannot

i believe  may have uninstalled the rockbox os before the drive went out,
but not the bootloader..
my pc will not recognize the device so i cannot see what is on the 320 drive at all. i can navigate the iriver os and i try to format and it wont let me
also the screen flickers A LITTLE im trying to figure out if this is related to the HD clicking problem
