MPEG Plugin Screen
« on: April 12, 2008, 02:53:07 PM »
When I use the emulator for iPod mini to test a file i just transcoded, it just looks grayscale but when I watch it on my iPod the screen is all flickery and even when no one's moving i can see the pixels changing. And there are these lines moving across the screen that make it look like someone put the old movie effect on it from movie maker. Is there anyway to fix this besides getting a new ipod?

How did you encode the file?

This probably has nothing to do with encoding. The iPod Mini has a 4-shade screen. Light gray, Dark gray, Black, and White. We use a technique to get considerably more shades of gray, but it can make things look flickery. Basically, these players were never meant to show video, and there are limits to how well we can do it.
