The battery capacity is only used on these players to estimate the remaining runtime (not the battery %), which isn't very accurate on them anyway.
There is a difference in battery vapacity between the ipods of the 5gen and 5.5gen.
Which mAh value should i set in rockbox/general settings for my 5.5gen battery?

According to my source for some of this information, there are two reasons for the improved battery life in the 5.5G iPods: better power management software in the firmware, and lower power consumption by the new displays. I.e. even though the new screens are brighter, they are more efficient.
And it does make a difference if you set this value with, let's say, 300 or 600mAh.
