Which mAh value should i set in rockbox/general settings for my 5.5gen battery?

To be honest, it doesn't really matter.  The battery capacity is only used on these players to estimate the remaining runtime (not the battery %), which isn't very accurate on them anyway.

If you downloaded the right version for your player it should default to the correct setting.  If you have changed the default setting google is your friend.
IIRC 30GB = 400mah and 60/80GB = 640mah.

This depends on your battery and what you consider accurate enough.  Anyway, I was just explaining that the battery capacity only matters for runtime estimation, and not for anything else.

Ok, i probably misunderstood some hints on the internet about the impeoved battery life in the newer "5.5 gen" Ipod comparing to the "5 gen". I found an article now explaining that a little more in detail:

According to my source for some of this information, there are two reasons for the improved battery life in the 5.5G iPods: better power management software in the firmware, and lower power consumption by the new displays. I.e. even though the new screens are brighter, they are more efficient.

But my question here was in fact about this "estimation" of the remaining runtime, and even if it surely cannot be exact it still remains a good estimate about how much time you still have before having to charge again.

Apple only claimed longer movie playback, never claimed longer music playback with the 5.5th gen over the 5th gen.  That right there pretty much answers the question if there is a battery difference.  Pretty strongly points the finger at display, back light, or possibly Broadcomm firmware.

In your experience, what is the optimal mah setting for the Ipod 5.5G 80GB?

Having it as 650mah, I've found that the battery indicator drops by 10% every few minutes of listening, which seems somewhat weird.

I set it at 1000mah, but I don't really know what this means in my situation.
