iPod 4th Gen Color: not shutting down when plugged in
(1/1)
isamu:
Hi. With the latest patch for my 4thGen iPod Color, the machine does not shut down after the idle time if it is plugged into the wall charger. If I manually try to shut it down by pressing select+play, it just immediately turns back on. Is there a workaround for this? I just don't want to be wasting electricity having my iPod turned on all the time. I don't take it anywhere with me. It accompanies my home stereo set.
How much electric current does a rockboxed iPod pull anyway? If I leave it on for days upon days, will I see a significant difference in my light bill?
Llorean:
Select+Play is not how you turn an iPod with Rockbox off. It's just Play. As for turning it off while charging, the iPods don't really turn off in the Apple firmware either. What you can do, though, to have it use less power if you're unwilling to simply unplug it, is set the backlight to turn off after a few seconds, and such. That being said, the iPod should be draining a rather small fraction of even what a low energy light bulb uses, let alone a standard bulb.
