Broken button switch on iriver H120

(1/1)

LambdaCalculus:
Once again, I have with me a friend's iriver H120 that was first given a hard drive transplant (the first drive experienced a hardware failure), an now lies before me with yet another problem.

The tiny button switch on the mainboard for Play/Pause has come off the board. Alas, with the tiny size of the switch, I'm unsure if it can be soldered back on. The H120 can still detect a charger, but with no way of powering it on, I can't do squat with it at all.

Is it even possible to reattach the switch, or is this iriver done for?

LinusN:
It is possible to solder it back again, provided you have some soldering experience and a decent soldering station. Let's hope that the PCB and the switch are intact. Just go find a hardware oriented friend. ;)

I would happily do it for you if I weren't so far away...

LambdaCalculus:
Thanks for the offer, LinusN! If I lived in Europe, I'd certainly ship it out in a heartbeat! ;)

The switch and PCB are thankfully intact; the switch just popped clean off. I haven't got a good soldering station though, so I'll have to see if one of my local contacts can handle this.
