Database missing songs on iPod Video
« on: April 10, 2008, 06:08:57 PM »
I just installed rockbox on my 5th gen video iPod with great success and I like it. Ive had two problems so far, when I updated the song database some of the albums on my iPod won't show up in the database to play. The second problem is with doom but ill make a post about that in the appropriate forum.

How can I get these missing songs to show up so I can listen to them?

Where are the albums located?

Do they have the correct tags?

Are they showing up as < Untagged >?

Well the only ones I've noticed so far are Umphrey's Mcgee albums, some of them are showing up but others arn't. They are labled the same way in iTunes

They are probably MP3s and they should be in those F00, F01 etc folders, not that I can find them because the names are all changed.

I can't help you with words like "probably". Please check exactly what format they are and their tags.

Turns out they are MP4 files, iTunes won't tell me exactly where they are in the iPod but they should be in iPod control/music with all of the other music. Sorry for being ambiguous before :(

Can you use foobar200 (or something similar) to see the exact codec? I have a hunch that they may be HE-AAC files.

Do the files play OK from the file browser?

HE-AAC files should show up, I think.  They just may not play at full speed.

fri, you didn't mention whether or not you're getting entries in the database that look like
Code: [Select]
< Untagged >
.

Also, if you check the versions that you have on your computer with a proper tagging tool can you verify that they are properly tagged?  I have seen situations where iTunes will not write metadata tags to the file, but will store the info in its own database.
