Recommend a Rockbox supported player?
« on: April 10, 2008, 02:56:34 PM »
I had an 8 gig Sansa which i loved, until one fateful night when I got too drunk and lost it like an idiot. Since then they've apparently released a newer version with a different build that isn't Rockbox supported and I don't know what to do.  I'd like to get it as soon as possible, which is why I'm preferring not to go with something like eBay, even though doing so might allow me to find a V1.

Anyway, I'm looking for a preferaby flash-memory player with at least 4 gigs. Also, if it supported MicroSD cards that would be amazing, but I think only the Sandisk ones do.

Looks like the e200 is your best choice.  When you order one just make sure you ask the seller to check the firmware version to verify that it's a v1 (if it starts with 01 it's good, if it's 03 it's a v2).

Or, if speed is a big issue, it would be quicker to get a 1st gen iPod nano because you won't have to bother asking any questions.

Try one of these:

Everyone I know who has gone for one from this source (apparently bankrupt stock), including two I bought myself, has received a V1 player.

Users in this forum report success using an 8Gb microSDHC card.

As far as i know the Nokia N96 has 16 GB of internal memory + supports microSDHC cards up 32 GB (when they come out)

16 GB + 32 GB = 48 GB

Uhh.. right.
Don't hold your breath for 32GB microSDHC. Perhaps you haven't noticed that there aren't even miniSDHC cards at 16GB yet.....

There are microsdhc cards at 16GB already available - they just cost and arm and a leg. (£90 in the UK currently).

Good! I'm surprised I haven't seen either, but I'm glad I was wrong.
