The current in-progress patch basically lets you arbitrarily display it wherever you want on the screen, including in multiple places. But right now it's just a proof of concept. Playing with an idea. It's by no means a guarantee that it will be done that way.

It will be interesting to see how it turns out.  I do hope that at the least the final version allows for top and/or bottom display.  It would give me an excuse to bring my themes up-to-date to use viewports as well.

Well, with viewports I don't see why you couldn't display the info anywhere you want.

True as that may be, all of my themes were "built" (*shrug*  I think it works...) before viewports was commited, though the most recent one was done while viewports was being discussed and finalized for commiting.  None of them would benefit much from being adjusted to use viewports, in my opinion, although it might be nice to have the theme's text kept away from the very edges of the screen by a few pixels.

Anyway, we're getting off topic here, now...
