videos on rockbox
mabarker93:
hey guys,
im new to all of this. i was wondering how to get videos on my rockbox program. can i put a movie that i already own onto rockbox??
zajacattack:
Rockbox has a plugin to play videos. Read http://www.rockbox.org/twiki/bin/view/Main/PluginMpegplayer
The videos must be encoded (or re-encoded) to MPEG-1 or 2 format. Read http://www.rockbox.org/twiki/bin/view/Main/PluginMpegplayer#How_To_Encode_Files
for tools to do that. (I suggest WinFF; it is the easiest to use).
mabarker93:
ok so lets say i have Anchorman on dvd. can i format that and put it on my iPod? And now u say i need tools?? can u please walk me step by step..
mabarker93:
im sorry, let me be more specific. i have downloaded Winff. I just put in Anchorman and i selected Convert. Now when it is done encoding, what do i do. Also, when i search in Plugins on my iPod, the only things that show up are games, apps, and demos.
karashata:
MpegPlayer doesn't show up in the plugins list. All you need to do is copy the movie onto your iPod and select it in the file browser in Rockbox, and MpegPlayer will load it and play it.
Also, "Games", "Applications", and "Demos" are menus that open that list various plugins in those categories.
