the bootloader for the ipod video doesnt work it shows on the black screen it cannot find the ipod and all it says is enter to exit

Okay, I will assume that it's not a 6g (Classic) then.  How is your iPod formatted?

actually i just found out its the 6g ipod with the main menu split in half one side for menu and other side for pics

No.  Its hardware is different than the previous generations and there's encryption at work.  So far no real work has gone into resolving that so I cannot anticipate when, if ever, Rockbox will run on it.
