Sansa e280: Broken partition table?

(1/1)

idanm:
Hello!

I've playing with my e280, I don't remember exactly what I did, but now I can connect to recovery mode and see the 20mb recovery partition and even upgrade firmware, but I can't connect in normal mode. no partitions is visible in normal mode.
I tired to create sansa.fmt, and it says formatting... and then same problem.
when I power on the player when not connected to pc it says: "not enough space for MusicDB. Please free 6mb".
briefly what I did before was:
installing 1.03.01/07 and 1.02.x. at some point I deleted the main partition of the player with gparted and created a new one, I might have checked "Round to cylinders" and created a slightly smaller paritition (a little more the 1 mb was left free between the main and recovery partition).
then I copied a few music files to the player and when I re-connected the player to my pc the music folders were corrupted.
now using firmware 1.02.18A.
I tired to connect in manufacture mode, but it didn't find the player.

is there a way to create the original partition table ?

pc OS: ubuntu.

Any ideas? thanks.

zajacattack:
Connect it in manufacturing mode.
Download e200tool from http://daniel.haxx.se/sansa/e200tool.html
Download your player's firmware and bootloader from http://daniel.haxx.se/sansa/mi4.html and put them in the same folder as e200tool
Run "./e200tool recover BL_SD_boardSupportSD.rom" (without the quotes) while holding record on the player.
You will enter recovery mode. Copy the firmware and bootloader over and create a blank file called "sansa.fmt" (without the quotes).

That should do it.

idanm:
Thanks! it worked!
the important thing was to hold both the center and the record button while running the command in manufacture mode. this is what I didn't do last time :)

zajacattack:
You shouldn't have to hold center down. But, whatever works, right?
