For later ipods this may be the case, but Rockbox should be very close now.  Somebody with an ipod needs to do some proper up-to-date representative tests both under Rockbox and the OF.

I recently ran a bench on my iPod video (now with a newer, higher capacity battery and a CompactFlash card), and got 14 hours of life in Rockbox. I do admit though, I did have EQ on and the volume was raised a bit high. Bench results are here.

And what do you get in the Apple firmware?  We need to be able to compare.  We need a time from Rockbox with the same settings as the Apple OF, everything else off, and a time from the Apple OF with the same album etc.
