MPEG Plugin power draw
jacotyco:
Can I do anything to make it so the MPEG doesn't use so much power? It's an iPod mini 2G.
Chronon:
Maybe if you don't turn the backlight on. That's the biggest consumer of power in your iPod. It's necessary on many color LCDs, but some black and white ones are visible without the backlight.
jacotyco:
Also, when there's something moving really fast its a blur.
Also also, this guy on the IRC channel said to dive into the code and reduce the cycles. I know what source code and cycles are, but i have zero programming experience, and on top of that i can't find the code.
AlexP:
You asked about optimising MPEGPlayer, and I said you need to look at the code. Not being rude, but if you can't find the code, you are not the person to do this. In order to use less battery, you need to make MPEGPlayer much more efficient so that it uses 'less CPU'. This will be hard. Most of the devices were not designed to play video, and the CPU is pretty much maxed out trying to keep up with the frame rate.
jacotyco:
Who is the person to do this? Can you gimme their email?
