Line In on Sansa c200

Hi there, I am thinking about writing a real oscilloscope plugin for the sansa c240. However before I begin coding - Does anybody out there know if it's possible to get a Line Input on this device?

I guess (if possible) this would use the Headphone output Jack?

What do you mean by real oscilloscope?  In what way is the current oscilloscope plugin not sufficient?

I'm not too sure that you will be able to do what you want.  Look and make sure that the c200 has a proper line-in port.  (Probably in the dock, if at all.)

Hi There,

By a 'real oscilloscope' I mean one which can be connected to an external probe, has Volts/Time per division and Trigger options.
(i.e. one which could be used to analyse an external electrical signal)


My Quesions was "Does anybody know if there is a Line-in connector"


I don't have a docking station for this device and have been un-sucessfull (so far) in trying to find out, so I thought maybe someone here would know.

It does not appear that it has a line in.

Are you looking to port an existing digital oscilloscope emulator or write one from scratch?  There are other targets that do have line in that could benefit from this.

 Thanks for the info....

I therefore guess the C240 has the same docking plug as the e200 series.

I was planning to write the plugin from scratch - it would be a good introduction (simple to code) for me to get into writing rockbox plugins, and I also would have use for it.

The only other input is the microphone, but I really did not want a pluging which required Hardware modification.

As there are gaps in the info - I will continue to dig, to see if there is a line-in, but at the moment - it looks like I will have to dream up another plugin.

Yeah, there are definitely some gaps in the information.  If you track down any further details it would be helpful if you could update the wiki.   

It's still possible that there's some line in that's just not documented (to my knowledge).  There's apparently an ADC since it can record from microphone.
