Rockbox not charging battery

(1/2) > >>

Maffyx:
I have a generation 4 IPod, and I've replaced the hard drive and battery. Just recently I've put rockbox on it, and it seemed to work fine. Well today it seems the battery will not charge. I've placed it on the wall charger and all it does is cycle through the Apple symbol, and then shuts off, occasionally it will get to the Rockbox logo then shut off. As for plugging it into a PC all I get is the battery with the lightning bolt symbol. I cannot figure out what may cause this to happen but it is not making me happy.

Does it work if you put the original battery back in?

No, I'm pretty sure the original battery is busted.

dreamlayers:
Maybe the issue is just that the battery is too deeply discharged to run the hard drive.  When you get a lightning bolt, that should mean the iPod is charging.  You could try leaving it in that state for a while and maybe it'll charge.

There are several open charging-related bugs.  With a 5G iPod, it charges at 100mA when running Rockbox, which is really slow.  I'm guessing these don't relate to your case however.

Maffyx:
Yea from what I've read around, I don't know if this is true, but I don't think the Ipod will charge from the USB on the computer, only the external wall charger. I get the lightning bolt battery when I plug into my PC, and when I plug it into my wall charger I get the rotation of turning on to show the apple symbol then shutting off over and over. I don't know how I can do anything when it wont charge.
