ihp140 optical in recording
« on: April 02, 2008, 10:36:56 AM »
hi,

i attempted my first recording last night, trying to record radiohead from radio 2 via an optical source, freeview box.

i selected everything correctly, mp3, 320, and set my recording directory as detailed in the rockbox manual. however when i started to record the source, which i was monitoring via the earphones, nothing happened.

The level bars were moving but a new file was not created.

i was using an older build, october last year it think (have just updated it).

Can anyone advise?

off topic, i then tried to use the iriver firmware and was successfully recording but on two occasions it stopped approx 5 and a half minutes in.

i shall try again tonight to see if i can record with the new firmware but any suggestions, pointers would be more than appreciated.

cheers,

barry

It's been a while since I did any recording but I think you may not be starting the recording.

When you go into recording the inputs are selected and you can monitor on the headphones but you are at the quivalent of a tape recorder on rec and pause - so you can set up the levels etc.(obviously not on a TOS input)

You have to start the recording off. on current firmware you'll see on the top line the battery WAV(or MP3) then a square block - press play (or record) and it should become a circle and the recording will start.

There are lots of options including pause/restart and I think starting a new file - I haven't checked but I;d be surprised if the manual was not up to date.
