If it was trivial, wouldn't it have been done?

Features are implemented by those who want them enough to bother to implement them.

It is just weird, that's all. Got it on almost every player on the market, though it's lacking on the advanced featured RB.
It's not that it's not useful, on a long song you can use it to know where you are in it.
Is it implemented on other players with RB ?

No - Rockbox uses the same playback engine on all our players, so it's not available on any of them.
