Is it true that rockbox supports microSD cards bigger than 2GB?

(1/3) > >>

Felliph3:
I have a Sansa e250 running rockbox. I heard that the Sansa e series supports only an additional 2gb on a microSD card so with that in mind:

1. Is this true?
2.If true, Is it true that rockbox supports cards bigger than 2GB on it?
3. How big a card can it support?
4. Does it support microSDHC?
 ???
Thanks in advance

SD cards (and this includes microSD, as the main difference is the size) can get as big as 2GiB. That's a technical limit (by the SD spec). For larger cards SDHC has been defined. Rockbox does support SDHC while the Sandisk OF doesn't. Which answers your questions
1. no (speaking of hardware), yes (speaking of the OF)
2. yes
3. SDHC cards can get as big as 32GiB (at least at the current state of the standard).
4. yes, as that is a prerequisite for cards bigger than 2GiB.

Oh ok thanks a lot!

Also, I have been having trouble finding them. 2GB and 4GB are all over the place but i can find 8,16, and 32Gb ones. Any ideas or places that you know I can get one(cheap preferably)?

kadoban:
32GB (I assume that's what you mean, not 32Gb) don't exist yet, and I don't think 16GB do either.  It's just that the standard allows for them whenever someone comes up with the ability to manufacture them.  8 GB I don't know about, they may not exist yet either.  The largest I've personally seen is 6 GB and they are still rather expensive.
