Newly Installed ROCKBOX on 5.5th gen ipod... dead.

(1/1)

PikKirby:
Well not that the Ipod was new or anything but...

anyway I was looking for a easier way to view avi files without the hasle of of converting them and i stummbled across linux for the ipod, soonly relizing it could not be installed for the 5.5th gen ipods i sadly threw away my installation pack into my trash bin. Thats when I found ROCK BOX. With a gleam of hope i installed it, tryed it out by playing around with its plugins and taking 3 hours to firgure out that Menu + Select is quit and then while looking at some pics i had on the ipod... BANG.

then i went around the forums, google, (you name it) it find a cure, I did not, mostly said to turn it off and quickly connect to the PC but my Ipod right now cant even turn off, it cant do anything and if i plug it in with a USB nothing happens... e:/ isn't there like it always used to be..

Please help! at least get my files back!! I used my ipod like a usb drive and i have over 20 gigs of games, and important files in there :( ???

AlexP:
1)  Rockbox plays MPEG 1/2 videos, not avi (which is a container anyway)

2)  Shutdown is very long play - menu + select is reset.

3)  To reset flick hold on then off, and hold menu + select possibly for up towards a minute.  This is a hardware feature and will always work except in the case of hardware failure.

4)  Backups are always a good idea...
