I suggest you use real English words and not slang. Also, I suggest using the modify button if no one has posted since you (instead of double posting). The mods get frustrated easily with slang words and with double posting.

zajac: The reason to follow the rules isn't to "not get yelled at" (unless you're a 4-year old), there are actually positive reasons for following them, no?

creeping death: You should know that if you have any problems with that version of Rockbox you won't be able to be helped out here.  It's also missing a lot of features that have been added to the current version of the software since March, 2007, including a serious power-saving rework, album art support, etc.  A better solution to your problem would be to fix those themes so that they work with the current build.

Or alternatively, accept that those themes won't work with current Rockbox, and wait for new themes to be created which make use of the recent advancements to the theming facilities in (official) Rockbox.

Especially as a new user, I would recommend you start with the official Rockbox build, as you'll be able to get help with problems on these forums.

In your opinion of course. I just like to warn people before someone comes in and scolds them for one mistake.

Something else you should know?
1 - That build (as evidenced by the date in the filename) is a year old.
2 - For want of a specific theme you have given up:
2008-03-21: Viewport tag added for WPS (all new WPSs will need this)
    2008-02-10: 40% more battery life
2007-12-09: PictureFlow: A nice animated visualization for album art.
    2007-11-19: Proper scroll wheel acceleration.
    2007-11-12: Hardware controlled backlight brightness
2007-09-27: Improved line selector. Colours are now customisable and a gradient is possible.
2007-08-08: Added support for grouping tags.
2007-08-03: Added support for the disc number tag
    2007-08-02: Superdom game
    2007-07-03: WMA codec initial support
    2007-06-30: Reversi game
    2007-06-29: Rocklife plugin
    2007-06-28: Maze game
2007-04-16: Icons in the menus and file browser are now customizable.

Sorry for dragging this a bit off-topic but what does telling people "don't do this or that because you would get yelled at by the moderators otherwise" help them? They won't know the reason and won't learn why - and in 99% of the times there is a reason, "moderators" don't yell at people because they just feel this way at a certain point in time...

So you like to scold people to prevent someone else from scolding them?  Stop being such a hypocrite.

What the mods really hate is you saying, "the mods hate it when ..."  We do not need you to speak for us.

Now that viewports were mentioned, is there a theme that uses them? I'm trying to update some of my older themes to work with the current build but I can't seem to get the %V syntax right.

I've got 2 sitting in the e200 gallery... the Oprah one is super simple and might help as a guide...

You will notice that I said, "I suggest" thus offering my opinion and suggestion instead of saying "Don't do that". I have never seen the verb "suggest" used in a scolding.

Sorry. I was just pointing out what I've seen from you all here. From now on, I will say, "I suggest you.......because the mods will most likely enforce the rules that they have autocratically created."

One last try before I give up...

zajacattack: why can't you just state that the poster violated the forum guidelines and point him/her friendly to them - without any judging? Those rules are there for very good reasons, the moderators didn't just invent them for the fun of it. They are there to keep the forums useful which means accessible and searchable for real information. If you want to discuss the rules, maybe start another thread on it but please stop telling someone to not do something "because of the moderators", the reason is "because of the rules" and if people read the guidelines they might understand them better because the reasoning behind them is explained...

You didn't answer my question, by the way, but I stop now to clutter this thread.
