Sansa c250, Vista 32bit, will not load driver when USB connects, works w/orig FW

(1/1)

jivetrky:
I'm not sure what my problem is exactly.  Whether it's a vista issue or just something I'm overlooking.   When I boot into the original firmware, the device is recognized just fine in Vista.  But when in RB, it fails to load a driver when I connect it to USB.

I've had a heck of a time getting it to work at all.  I've tried switching to many different stock firmware's hoping one would work better than another for some reason (does this even matter when RB is loaded, or does it not even rely on the original FW at all?)

But no matter what I do, I cannot get it to connect up in rockbox.  I have to load original to be able to copy files to and from the player.

Also, when I try to connect it and it fails to load the driver, I disconnect the USB cable (And hear the little noise windows makes when you disconnect a USB device) but the player is then froze in connect mode with the little picture of a USB connector.  It won't go away and even the power button is unresponsive.  I have to remove the battery to reboot.

details:
RB fw:  r16859-080328
Sansa c250 w/ 2GB microSD card
Original fw version (does this matter?):  01.00.06A
Windows Vista 32bit

Thanks!

AlexP:
Rockbox does not yet have a USB mode for the c200s (and indeed all portalplayer devices).  Please use the OF to transfer music.
