New thread prioritisation models
« on: March 29, 2008, 11:05:09 PM »
Just wondering, as I haven't been following IRC, is there a possible benefit in the new thread priority management changes, for people who are seeing weirdness during startup?

One example is that buffering and dircache building seem to heavily compete for CPU and disk, if you're starting the playing with "Resume Playback" turned on.

I was wondering if the recent changes, and particularly those in the last 24 hours, might help with that?

I guess I should download the latest build and check it out, right?

You really want to chat to devs on IRC about this.  Specifically jhMikeS.

And yes, the recent changes should help.  Please always try the most current build before anything else.

baobab68: dircache and buffering competing for the disk at startup seems normal to me, but maybe I just got used to it. Is there a rev. number that you know of where playback startup and dircache play well together (pre-MoB I suppose).
