very difficult connection problem with ipod 4g greyscale

(1/2) > >>

squizzerls:
Hi all, I have a 4g greyscale ipod that I installed rockbox on a while ago, and it was working great - for a while. Now, rockbox still works, but my computer does not recognize the ipod at all. Ever. Not in rockbox as a disk. Not in the original firmware as a disk or in itunes. Not in disk mode. I've tried resetting the ipod, using 3 different computers, using another cable... The ipod still charges when I hook it up by usb, but no computer will recognize it. The manual and searching the forum has not revealed any answers so far. Please help!

As I said:
4g 40 gig greyscale clickwheel ipod
windows xp home sp2
usb

saratoga:
If it doesn't work when its in the Apple firmware, theres probably something wrong with the hardware, the Apple firmware, or you PC.

squizzerls:
I don't supposed there's anything else to do but send it in? Will Apple even look at it with rockbox installed?

zajacattack:
Give a different USB port a try.
Give a different computer a try.
Give a different cable a try.
If ALL of these fail, then it is most likely the iPod's fault.

squizzerls:
already tried another usb port and several different computers, if the ipod is still working normally besides the connection, is it probably the cable or the bottom connector port thingy?
